How to tell if you have brake issues

Here are some of the tell-tale signs that there may be an issue with your brakes;
  • Squealing, squeaking, or a high-pitched noise when applying the brakes
  • Car pulls to one side when braking
  • Grinding noises
  • Soft or spongy feeling when depressing the brake pedal
  • Excessive brake dust on rims/wheels
  • Vibrations in the steering wheel
  • Emergency brake not holding the vehicle

brake pad warning indicator

Chevrolet and GMC brake pads are often fitted to our vehicles. These pads contain a slender piece of metal strategically placed so that when the brake pads become worn, a squealing sound can be heard. This is a good indicator that the pads need replacing.

Do rotors need to be replaced at the same time as brake pads?

No. If the rotors are still good with no warping and lots of life left, they don't need to be replaced at the same time as the brake pads.
