2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
If you're looking for capability in your next ride, there's nothing quite like a pickup truck. The new 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is a challenging contender in the pickup truck market, but is it right for you? Find out with a comprehensive overview of the new Silverado's most important features that you may not want to go without.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
Customization is fairly typical with pickup trucks, so it should be no surprise that the Silverado has seven different trim levels to choose from. The standard base trim is known as the WT or Work Truck, and it features automatic high-beam headlights, 17-inch steel wheels, semigloss bumpers, and a rear bumper corner step. With the Custom trim, you can enjoy 20-inch alloy wheels and LED cargo bed lights. At the LT trim level, the Silverado boasts LED headlights with several other interior upgrades.
At the RST trim level, the Silverado is outfitted with a more sporty look that includes body-colored bumpers, LED taillights, and LED fog lamps. Opt for the LTZ trim, and the truck is more luxurious with chrome bumpers and the option for a power sunroof. With the High Country trim, you get 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, chrome exhaust tips, and a spray-in bed liner. Finally, the ZR2 is an off-road-oriented trim that comes with 33-inch wheels with MT tires, skid plate protection, and the option for a power tailgate.
Engine (Power)
Under the hood of the Silverado, you'll find one of four different engine options. The base-level engine is a 2.7-liter turbocharged inline-four with 310 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. The V-8 options are quite impressive too, with the 5.3-liter version offering 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, the 6.2-liter version sports 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Finally, there's a turbocharged 3-liter diesel inline-six engine that boasts 277 horsepower with 460 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
The key to reliable performance in a truck lies in its capability, and the Silverado certainly doesn't disappoint in that regard. When properly equipped, it can tow up to 13,300 pounds, which is one of the highest capacities in its class. Even if you don't get the heavy-duty V-8 engine, the smaller V-8 can still tow up to 11,500 pounds. Additionally, the Silverado has an alluring payload capacity ranging from 1,870 pounds to 2,280 pounds.
Interior
Inside the Silverado, you'll find an interior designed for both form and function. It features an available 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a massive infotainment touchscreen measuring 13.4 inches. Plus, the legroom is especially generous, with the crew cab version offering rear passengers 43.4 inches of space. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available too.
Safety Features
You can drive with peace of mind behind the wheel of the Silverado, knowing it received an overall safety rating of five stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. You'll also find several driver assistance features, such as forward collision warning with automated emergency braking and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert all standard.
