1. Browse the Oxford Farmers Market

You can buy the freshest local produce, home-jarred jams and jellies, artisan wares, baked goods, and much more at the weekly Oxford Farmers Market. It’s held from May until the end of the fall growing season every Saturday from 7 a.m. until noon. You’ll find the market at the intersection of McClanahan and Lanier Streets.


2. Catch a Show at the Granville Little Theater

The Granville County Community Theater has been entertaining locals at this location since 1978. Volunteers produce several full-length plays each year, most recently a production of Arsenic and Old Lace in May 2023. The Granville Little Theater is located at 300 Williamsboro Street.


3. Step Back in Time at the Granville County Historical Society and Museum

You can learn about the history of Granville County’s many towns and settlements at this downtown museum. It hosts traveling exhibits from places such as the Smithsonian as well as locally curated artifacts and documents. You can spend hours perusing the area’s past, including the old jail building next door. Granville County Historical Society and Museum is located at 1 Museum Lane in Oxford. It’s open for visitors Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.


4. Spend the Day Outdoors at Granville Athletic Park

Community members can stroll the hiking trails and play a round of disc golf at Granville Athletic Park, part of Oxford’s 79-acre Jonestown Environmental Preserve. You can explore local arts and culture on the park’s quilt trail, borrow a book from the little free library, or take your kids to the inclusive playground or musical garden. The park is located at 4615 Belltown Road, and it’s open from dawn to dusk all year.


5. Enjoy Wilton Slopes Park

Wilton Slopes Park has a boat launch that serves as the starting point for the Tar River Paddle Trail. In addition to water recreation, this park offers hiking and biking trails, a covered picnic area, and accessible parking. It’s located at 3398 State Highway 96, open from dawn to dusk.


6. Play Some Games at Adventure Island

Adventure Island features an arcade along with mini golf, laser tag, bumper boats, and a snack bar. This family fun park is located at 1211 Coble Boulevard in Henderson, open from noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, Friday from noon to 8 p.m., Saturday from noon to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 1 to 7 p.m.
