1. Granville Haunt Farm

This spooky drive-thru experience gets you up close and personal with some of your favorite movie monsters. As your car travels the route, you’ll see these villains act out their cinema scenes. Granville Haunt Farm is open every Friday and Saturday in October and November 1 and 2.

2. Family Pumpkin Carving

Hop in your Acadia for the quick 15-minute drive to Henderson to participate in this enjoyable event for kids ages 5 and older. Family Pumpkin Carving will take place Tuesday, October 31, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Register in advance on the Henderson and Vance Recreation and Parks Department website. The cost is $5 and the event will be held at the Aycock Recreation Center, 307 Carey Chapel Rd in Henderson.

3. Blown-Glass Pumpkin Patch 

About a 20-minute drive from Oxford in Creedmoor, Cedar Creek Gallery fills its space with hundreds of delicate, beautiful blown-glass pumpkins made by local artisans. Browse the unique selection and bring home your favorites to elevate your holiday decorating this year. The pumpkin patch exhibit will be open from September 13 to October 31.

Cedar Creek Gallery is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It’s located at 1150 Fleming Rd in Creedmoor.

4. Rocky Horror Picture Show Ball

The Carolina Theatre, about a 30-minute drive from Oxford in Durham, will host this fun event on Thursday, October 24 at 7:30 p.m. This annual tradition involves a showing of the cult classic Rocky Horror Picture Show along with dazzling light effects, sing-alongs, special effects, and fun surprises. Standard tickets to the show cost $17.68, with special seating also available. The Carolina Theatre is located at 309 W Morgan St in Durham.

Retro Film Series, the organization hosting this event, also has other movies scheduled to get you into the holiday spirit. Check out horror classics such as The Birds on Sunday, October 6, Scream on Friday, October 11, and Nosferatu with a live score on Monday, October 28.
