All four trims are powered by a 1.5-liter, turbocharged, direct fuel injection, intercooler DOHC 16-valve inline-4 cylinder engine with six-speed automatic transmission. The engine supplies 170-horsepower at 5600 rpm and 203 pounds-feet of torque at 2000 rpm with a maximum towing capacity of 1,500 pounds.

The 2022 Equinox features 16-inch front and rear four-wheel antilock disc brakes, MacPherson front suspension, and a StabiliTrak electronic stability control system with traction control. An engine block heater is optional.
